February meeting & birthdays & field trips

Our next meeting is February 8 and according to the *administration* it should be an exciting time! There will be a trunk show by Diane Dininsky and Tanya will be teaching color work and steeking. In addition, the SWAG is in! If you ordered a kit it's $25; if you ordered extra skeins they are $15 each.

Remember, the doors open at 7 for sign in and raffle ticket purchase.

Field trips for the month include Knit Michigan on February 5 and the Spinner's Flock Winter Fleece Fair in Chelsea on February 19.

Belated January birthdays wishes to Nancy Brown and me. :-) Very Happy Birthday to our February lambs: Jodi Dietz, Diane Dininsky, Merritt Collins, Kate Pultz and Heather Perrone!

Are you no longer doing your weekly meet-ups at Panera? I went to meet some of you at Panera on Wed and was disappointed to not see anyone knitting there (other than myself). Have you stopped doing these?

Janurary Meeting and Announcements

New Meeting Location! effective immediately for our Tuesday Jan 8, 2007 Meeting I feel like we've been in a sweat lodge for the last few months meeting at the Community Center. . .in response to all of the hot flashes and personal fans brought to the meetings, we've chosen a new (and cooler)location. Meetings will now be held at: Fifth Third Bank 1833 Coolidge Berkley, MI 48072 The bank is located on Coolidge near 11 mile. . .on the West side of the road. Great, well lit parking, comfy chairs and no jazzercise music playing during the meeting! The meeting agenda will include learning a new cast on and bind off--bring worsted weight yarn in two colors, and needles to match, as well as info about Knit Michigan (see Judith's post below), our upcoming Retreat at Hankered Inn (you may want to bring your checkbook so you can leave a deposit to reserve your space as they are limited). The retreat is planned for the weekend of April 25-27, check your calendars and save the date...

"Speed Knitting"

Ever seen anyone knit so fast they needed a helmet to protect themselves? Or maybe, the helmet is to protect themselves from the head bashing you do when you've made a REALLY big mistake and need to frog. . . A skein of sock yarn is waiting for the person with the most witty (in my opinion) caption for this pix. Make a comment and I'll choose the winner next Thursday when I come home from the UP. Thanks to Coralee for the picture! (oh how I wonder what sort of crazy pictures of me she may have stored on her camera. . .)

Hello all. This is the job I won playing *secretarial poker* this evening. If you have anything you want to share, let me know. As my first official act I am reminding Margie T. & Suzanne J. that they signed up to provide raffle items for the March meeting. Mary P. and Nancy B. will be providing snacks. A question of vital importance: does anyone have a button maker? Know of one available for guild use? Inquiring secretaries want to know. March is a busy birthday month! We know of Judith, Linda D., Suzanne, Kim W. & Camille. Anyone else? Tanya has an important question for you all. More news next time. Linda F. ETA--Check the sidebar! --t
