did you know......
tell us about your first project ~ what & when.
Joellen Smith: Oct., 2006 - A pillow, as of yet still incomplete. I didn't want to do the traditional scarf, because that is what everyone does first.
Phyllis Evans: Aa bulky cardigan - I was a freshman at U0fM and I found the yarn & pattern in a kit at a yarn shop on State St.
Sarah Turner: A baby sweater [for no one] in Homespun using the label pattern. I don't thinl I have totally finished the seams yet. Oh and it's an ugly brown color. What was I thinking?
what was your most difficult project?
Joellen: That damn skull hat!
Phyllis: My first socks. After a bunch of fits & starts with DPNs, Vogue Knitting published Cat Bordhi's Flow Motion Socks pattern.
Fell in love with the pattern, so was forced to learn toe-up cast on, twisted stitches & all the other goodies.
Sarah: The dinosaur sweater. I still haven't gotten the hang of intarsia...
what was/is your favorite project?
Joellen: My first & only pair of socks.
Phyllis: Pretty as a Peacock & Mystic Light shawls are my current favorite
finished things. I love lace & unusual construction.
Sarah: My red Mojo socks. I love them because the design is cool yet easy & I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color!
salty or sweet?
Joellen: Sweet, for sure.
Phyllis: A combination of both. I'm hooked on PayDay candy bars.
Sarah: Do I have to choose? I'm a big fan of Reese's Peanut Butter cups, & dark chocolate.
tell us something interesting about yourself.
Joellen: I ride a motorcycle. I have a brand spanking new Triumph
Bonneville. My husband is a reak for motorcycles & I refuse to be just
a rider on the back.
Phyllis: I do a limited amount of Mac tech support. I'm responsible for
initiating the Genius SIG at MacGroup-Detroit.
Sarah: I completed the Country Music Half Marathon in 2005. I hpe
to complete the Free Press Marathon... maybe in 2009.
aside from knitting, what are you passionate about?
Joellen: I am passionate about yoga.
Phyllis: I love to spin, although I only started last year. I'm a techno
junkie [2 computers & 6 iPods].
Sarah: Food allergy awareness. Since my son was diagnosed with multiplefood allergies a year ago, life has been a roller coaster.
